Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil seeks skilled carpenters for heavy civil road, bridge, and highway projects. The role involves reading blueprints, constructing and erecting formwork, and ensuring accurate concrete placement on industrial sites.

This hands-on field position emphasizes safety and adherence to project specifications on state infrastructure projects in Texas. You will fabricate and assemble wood and metal forms, prepare layouts, and work with crews to support major infrastructure development

Job Overview:Are you a skilled carpenter with experience in heavy civil construction?We’re looking for reliable and safety-focused Carpenters to join our team on major road, bridge, and highway infrastructure projects. Primoris Heavy Civil is currently searching for experienced Heavy Civil Road Carpenters and structural form builders for our Laredo, Tx project. Carpenters in the construction, installation, and fabrication of forms structures of wood, patent form systems, or a combination of both.The Carpenter constructs, erects, installs, fabricates, dismantles, and repairs structures, formwork and fixtures of wood, metal forms and associated accessories. This position is hands-on and field-based, with a focus on forming and framing concrete structures used in highways, bridges, and municipal infrastructure.Functional RequirementsRead blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.Select type and size of related materials according to the job specifications.Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.Select specified type of lumber or other materials.Prepare layouts including lines and grade.Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.Shapes materials to prescribed measurements.Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together.Fabricate from work then load, haul, and carry it to the job site and install per drawings, sketches, or plans.Place and finish concrete in formwork and set and align form panels.Set grout forms for epoxy and cement grout.Qualification StandardsOne (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level).Written pre-employment qualification test.Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.New Hire Orientation QuizApplicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.Job site safety requirements as required by the client (long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).Physical RequirementsMust be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs.
