Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking skilled Carpenters for road construction projects in Houston, TX. This role involves constructing and repairing wooden structures, concrete forms, and other carpentry-related tasks essential to heavy civil infrastructure development.

You will read blueprints, measure and shape materials, and collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion while upholding strict safety standards in a dynamic construction setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 3-5 years of experience as a Carpenter in heavy civil construction.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard using hand and power tools.
• Build and dismantle concrete forms, shoring, and scaffolding per blueprints and specifications.
• Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, fiberglass, drywall, and other materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications.
• Inspect and replace damaged framework or structures and fixtures.
• Collaborate with concrete finishers, ironworkers, and laborers to complete projects.
• Maintain safety policies and a safe working environment.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

3-5 years carpenters experience in heavy civil construction

Blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings reading

Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials

Ability to perform physical labor in varying weather

Safety compliance and regulations

• Reliable transportation to and from job sites in the Houston, TX area.
