Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Carpenter/Painter to support alterations and new construction across our facilities. You will apply carpentry, cabinet-making, painting, and wall finishing skills to keep spaces safe, functional, and visually appealing.

This role involves measuring, preparing drawings, estimating materials, installing drywall and finishes, and maintaining tools. Typical hours include 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm in an office-adjacent environment that supports patient care and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Carpentry and cabinet-making experience.
• Ability to read working drawings and estimate materials.
• Experience with drywall, painting, and wall finishing.

Responsibilities

• Perform general carpentry and cabinet-making in support of alterations and new construction.
• Measure and prepare working drawings and estimate material quantities.
• Install drywall, flooring, and ceiling systems; perform roofing and masonry tasks as needed.
• Prepare surfaces with joint compound, caulking, and sanding; apply paints, stains, and varnishes.
• Maintain tools and equipment; keep accurate daily records of time and materials.
• Serve as a technical resource and team leader to ensure high-quality results.

Job description

• Performs general carpentry and cabinet-making in support of alterations and new construction.
• Measures and prepares working drawings and estimates amounts of materials when necessary.
• Installs dry wall, floor and ceiling systems.
• Performs general roof work and masonry tasks when necessary.
• Prepares all surfaces with joint compound, caulking, and sanding.
• Removes hardware and other items.
• Places masking tape and drop cloths to protect surfaces.
• Sets up scaffolding and ladders for safe usage.
• Applies paints, stains, and varnishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
• Pastes, applies, trims, and smoothes wall coverings and materials.
• Returns finished area to working order.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and systems as required.
• Maintains all tools and equipment in safe and operable condition.
• Reports problems to supervisor.
• Assists in maintenance of signage and directional systems.
• Maintains accurate daily records of time and materials.
• Serves as technical resource and team leader to assure a quality product when necessary.
