Job Description

*** Active Secret Clearance Required ***

The Carpenter performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors. Work involves most of the following:

  1. Examines blueprints and determines dimensions of structure. Layout and construct light gauge metal framing.
  2. Hang, tape, finish and sand new drywall.
  3. Layout and install acoustical ceiling grid. Install acoustical ceiling tile.
  4. Install ceramic tile.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements:

  • A combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years*; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.

Other Job Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or vocational program for a journeyman carpenter with eight (8) years of experience in trade and building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PM programs.
  • Practical knowledge of repairs, installation of floor and ceiling tile, walls (plaster, block, drywall), masonry work, locksmithing, cabinet making, framing, form work, and general knowledge of the painting trade.
  • Ability to operate small power tools and machinery.
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform material take-offs from prints.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Effective communication skills with customers and subordinates.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Willingness to work rotational shifts, including days, evenings, nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.

Salary Range: 45,000 to 82,000

Market Rate: The salary is typically at the midpoint of the range, with variations based on qualifications, experience, location, internal pay equity, and market conditions.
