Job summary

Wells is seeking a Wood Shop carpenter to cut and shape materials, fabricate blanks, and assemble forms and bulkheads for panels and projects. You will read pour sheets and operate table saws, band saws, miters, pneumatic nail guns, and related tools safely and efficiently.

This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, forklift operation, and collaboration with supervisors to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Carpentry experience or technical training valued.
• Ability to read and interpret project sheets and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Read pour sheets and cut/shape materials for panels.
• Operate table saws, band saws, miters, nail guns safely.
• Assemble forms and bulkheads for structural and architectural projects.
• Transport wood forms to production and painting areas.
• Follow safety and housekeeping standards.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Wood Shop carpenter is responsible for cutting and shaping materials to achieve the desired appearance for each panel. They also fabricate the blank out material used within the panels.

WHAT YOULL DO

Reads and comprehends pour sheetsCuts insulation and blank out material for panels as well as nailers for each pourOperates table saws band saws miter saws pneumatic nail guns and other tools safely and efficientlyCuts and assembles wood components to construct forms and bulkheads for both structural and architectural projectsSeals wood forms when required and creates special blanks or notches for projectsPrepares materials and sets up beds including drilling holes into wood formsAssists with or directs special form build ups as neededTransports wood forms to production for painting or varnishingPerforms work both indoors and outdoorsUses forklifts to move materials from storage to fabrication areasResponsible for following the BSP Behavior Based Safety program and maintaining housekeeping standards in their assigned area.

Were looking for a safety minded candidate with strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with co workers supervisors and managers. The ideal person can solve problems quickly and efficiently collaborate with others to complete projects and also work independently when needed.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

High School Diploma or GED. Technical training or work experience in carpentry is preferred. General math skills and the ability to read a tape measure. Possesses knowledge of the company's products and can identify which products are best suited for each task. Demonstrates adaptability and a willingness to embrace changes aimed at achieving Best in Class standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS. Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending climbing kneeling twisting squatting crawling and repetitive handarm use. Capable of standing walking and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours. Comfortable working at heights using ladders scaffolding swing stages and man lifts frequently. Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards. Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions including wet hot humid and cold weather and outdoors year round depending on location. Ability to wear all required PPE including but not limited to safety boots safety glasses hearing protection high visibility vest hard hat and other PPE as required by the task department or work area.
