Job summary

Wells is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented finish and repair worker to perform patching, surface finishing, and assist with handling panels in a production setting. You will safely use hand and power tools and learn to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.

The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is safety-minded, and a team player who can adapt to physically demanding tasks in varying conditions. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • General math skills and ability to read a tape measure and blueprints.
  • Adequate English to read pour sheets and set up directions, and communicate with crew.
  • Authorized forklift operator or ability to learn forklift skills.
  • Experience with operating overhead crane-ways; Wells Concrete will train without prior experience.

Responsibilities

  • Climb on/off forms, pieces, trailer decks, and work platforms.
  • Carry materials needed for panel and product work.
  • Use hand and power tools (cut-off saws, grinders, drills).
  • Apply knowledge or learn to use gas/acetylene torches.
  • Operate company forklifts (training provided).
  • Work with concrete: pouring, leveling, finishing.
  • Operate overhead craneways (training provided).
  • Learn or demonstrate proper rigging and safe product handling.
  • Develop or use sandblasting and water-blasting finish work.

The Patch and Finish Laborer performs repair and finishing work on precast concrete products to ensure quality standards are met. This role involves patching defects, completing surface finishing, and assisting with handling and cleanup of panels in a production environment while using hand and power tools safely and effectively.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented worker with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn skilled finishing and repair techniques. They are safety-minded, work well in a team environment, and can perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining quality and consistency.


IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • General math skills and the ability to read a tape measure and blueprints

  • Have adequate knowledge of the English language to be able to read pour sheets and set up directions, and be able to communicate with other members of the crew

  • Be an authorized forklift operator or be capable of learning the skills of operating a forklift

  • Be experienced in operating overhead crane-ways (Wells Concrete will train employees without experience)


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use

  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours

  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently

  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)

  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
