As the Carpenter/Laborer, you will work under the direction of the Foreman building decks and other structures for hardscaping and landscaping projects. This position is also responsible for performing a variety of work tasks (general physical labor) assisting with the completion of landscape construction projects and snow removal.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions.
- Knowledge of building materials, construction methods, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to use a large amount of hand, power operated tools and small engine equipment such as drills and circular saws.
- Ability and willingness to dig post holes and footings when necessary.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a carpentry program preferred.
- 3 years' experience working with construction crews is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Landscape:
- Assist crew with the following tasks:
- Conduct deck installations and other carpentry projects under the direction of the Foreman.
- Take measurements, calculate amount of material needed, read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches understanding the project specifications.
- Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials.
- Dig and perform land clearing activities.
- Plant and maintain garden beds and lawns.
- Load, unload and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of job sites, vehicles, and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Snow:
- Assist crew with the following tasks:
- Analyze and improve organizational processes, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Install Satellite Salt Bins.
- Ensure Equipment expansion is done and complete for season.
- Ensure all properties are marked prior to the first storm of the season.
- Ensure all equipment is serviced and ready for operation.
- Ensure all equipment is in the proper location for storm operations.
- Perform snow and ice removal and management services to the territory assigned.
- Ensure trucks and equipment are properly cleaned and serviced and ready for the next storm.
- Ensure all plow markers are cleaned up and returned to WLSM.
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned up and returned to its proper storage area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
