Job summary

The Zachry Group is hiring a Commercial Carpenter to perform journeyman-level carpentry on various commercial sites in Houston, including office buildings, housing, restaurants and hospitals. Responsibilities

  • Install walls, floors, drop ceilings, and roof repairs using wood, steel, plastics, and composites.
  • Repair window frames, doors, trims to code with proper tools; lift 50 lbs and climb ladders.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for elevated work.
  • Cut materials to measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Follow established safety rules and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Build or repair cabinets and wooden fixtures using woodworking tools.
  • Assemble materials to form frameworks with screws, nails, or glue.
  • Remove damaged parts and replace using hand tools.
  • Inspect ceilings, tiles, walls for damage.
  • Drive company vehicle to job sites and run errands.
  • Coordinate with engineers and contractors in elevator machinery spaces.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Commercial Carpenter, you will provide professional journeyman commercial carpentry services during construction/repair/remodel of commercial structures such as office buildings, low-income housing, restaurants, churches, hospitals, banks, mixed‑use buildings and tenant improvements. You will be responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using diverse types of materials including wood and steel, plastic, acrylic glass or drywall.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Location: Site 114685 935 North Eldridge Houston Texas 77079

  • Installing walls, carpet floors, drop ceilings, and roof repairs using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
  • Repair window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, sheet rock infill, interior and exterior trim to code using the proper tools and Techniques. Be able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods. Be able to carry and climb ladders as needed. Kneel and hold the position for long periods for working under sinks.
  • Erecting scaffolding, ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
  • Shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Building or repairing cabinets, doors or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Assembling and fastening materials to make frameworks using hand tools and wood screws, nails, or glue.
  • Removing damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
  • Inspecting ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
  • Drive company vehicle from office to job sites, construction supply houses, and run miscellaneous errands as needed to support the operation.
  • Work closely and coordinate with Building/Facilities Engineers, Electricians, Elevator Contractors, Mechanical Contractors, Fire Service Contractors, and Sprinkler Fitters in elevator machinery spaces, elevator hoist ways.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial carpentry
  • Must have own trade tools.
  • Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications required by our clients for information pertaining to the type of material required to get job done.
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation.
  • High standard of integrity, professionalism and appearance working in a Corporate Environment.
  • Must have valid Driver's License and be able to pass a Drug test.
  • Pay depending on Experience.
