Job summary

Holder Construction is hiring a Carpenter for our project in Gainesville, VA. This full-time position supports the Operations team with on-site construction tasks, safety compliance, and hands-on carpentry duties.

The candidate should have 5+ years of construction experience, be able to read basic drawings, and hold OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training. The role involves physical work, lifting 50–100 lbs, and working outdoors with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction experience.
• Must be able to read basic drawings.
• Training on construction safety protocols (e.g., OSHA 10, fall protection, elevated platforms).
• Provide primary support to field supervision and demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks.
• Stand or walk for long periods; perform repetitive motions; lift 50–100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain safety handrails and hole protection, steps and ladders, temporary weather enclosures, and protection.
• Perform sawing, stripping, nailing, measuring, drilling, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Experience with concrete is a plus.

About The Role

We are looking for a Carpenter to join our Operations team on our project in Gainesville, VA. This is a full‑time position.

Key Responsibilities

• Constructing and maintaining safety handrails and hole protection, steps and gang ladders, temporary weather enclosures, and protection.
• Also does sawing, stripping, nailing, measuring, drilling, and other duties assigned by supervisor.
• Experience working with concrete is a huge plus.

Qualifications

• Possess 5 years of construction experience.
• Must be able to read basic drawings.
• Have training on construction safety protocols (e.g., OSHA 10, fall protection, mobile elevated platform—boom and scissor).
• Provide primary support to field supervision and demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks, maintain professionalism, and use critical thinking to solve issues.
• Be agile/mobile, remain alert, stand or walk for long periods, use fingers, hands & arms to reach, handle, and manipulate objects, climb up/down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
• Work on uneven surfaces/heights, read/write, and see & hear well either naturally or with correction.
• Lift and carry materials weighing 50–100 lbs., 75% of the time.

Preferred

• Individuals must be able to work in an OSHA‑compliant safety environment.
• Must be able to work outside.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekend hours.
• Punctuality and promptness are required every day.
