Job summary

Holder Construction is seeking a Carpenter to join the Operations team on a project in Gainesville, VA. This is a full-time position with responsibilities including building safety handrails, hole protection, and temporary enclosures, plus general carpentry tasks.

Ideal candidates have 5 years of construction experience, can read drawings, and have training in construction safety (OSHA 10, fall protection, MEWP). Candidates must be able to work outdoors and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read basic drawings.
• Must have construction safety protocols training (OSHA 10, fall protection).
• Provide ownership of tasks and show professionalism and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Experience with concrete is a plus.

About The Role

We are looking for a Carpenter to join our Operations team on our project in Gainesville, VA. This is a full‑time position.

Key Responsibilities

• Constructing and maintaining safety handrails and hole protection, steps and gang ladders, temporary weather enclosures, and protection.
• Also does sawing, stripping, nailing, measuring, drilling, and other duties assigned by supervisor.
• Experience working with concrete is a huge plus.

Qualifications

• Possess 5 years of construction experience.
• Must be able to read basic drawings.
• Have training on construction safety protocols (e.g., OSHA 10, fall protection, mobile elevated platform—boom and scissor).
• Provide primary support to field supervision and demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks, maintain professionalism, and use critical thinking to solve issues.
• Be agile/mobile, remain alert, stand or walk for long periods, use fingers, hands & arms to reach, handle, and manipulate objects, climb up/down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
• Work on uneven surfaces/heights, read/write, and see & hear well either naturally or with correction.
• Lift and carry materials weighing 50–100 lbs., 75% of the time.

Preferred

• Individuals must be able to work in an OSHA‑compliant safety environment.
• Must be able to work outside.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekend hours.
• Punctuality and promptness are required every day.
