Scull Construction Service, Inc. in Rapid City, SD is seeking a Carpenter Helper to assist carpenters in building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and furniture using wood and other materials. You will join a skilled team delivering high-quality projects in the northern plains region.

No formal education is required, but at least two years of carpentry experience is preferred. Be prepared for pre-employment screening, on-site safety, and occasional out-of-town travel with

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years carpentry experience preferred.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random drug/alcohol testing.
• Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work.
• Must arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have PPE and necessary tools.
• Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy.
• Wear PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including hard hats and safety glasses.
• Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Set and strip forms, frame walls, sheet floors and roofs, caulking, tie rebar, and cut lumber to proper lengths.
• Operate equipment such as a gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift.
• Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by supervisor; ask questions when needed.
• Be dependable to your team and work collaboratively.
• Assist with all tasks and be flexible with assignments.

Essential Functions

• Set and strip forms, frame walls, sheet floors and roofs, caulking, tie rebar, and cut lumber to proper lengths
• Operate equipment such as a gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift
• Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task
• Be dependable to your team: You work as a team and progress as a team
• Assist with all tasks; even it is below your skill level

Job Requirements And Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of carpentry experience preferred
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing
• Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work
• Must arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you.
• Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy
• Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests
• Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities
• Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product
• Identify and communicate any job site hazards
• Safely and correctly operate all equipment and manual/power tools. Do not operate any equipment or tools that you have not been trained to use properly
• Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order
• Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites
• Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers
• Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed
• Willingness to travel out-of-town
• Work overtime as required, including some weekends
• Maintain acceptable personal hygiene
• Dress appropriately for working conditions

Physical Requirements

• Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift
• Ability to safely climb up and down ladders
• Ability to work alone once instructions have been given
• Able to complete a full day's assignments involving one or more of the following: Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment and any other safe- related equipment
• Able to work from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other safe work platforms over 10 feet
• Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow, depending on the job location
• Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required
