Job summary

Dick Anderson Construction in Helena, MT is seeking experienced and motivated Carpenters to join our team.

As a Carpenter you will independently perform a variety of carpentry and general building tasks on residential, commercial, and industrial job sites, reporting to the Project Foreman or Superintendent.

Strong finishing and framing skills are encouraged, with opportunities to lead a small crew on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Basic ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to read and understand English instructions.
• Experience with finish trim tools helpful.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic layout work for new construction sites and remodels.
• Constructs and positions concrete forms for footings and foundations using tools.
• Installs and sets floor joists, frames floor, and lays plywood for sub-floor.
• Builds exterior/interior walls and braces them in place.
• Installs protective sheeting around exterior walls to seal out weather.
• Frames openings for windows and doors.
• Hangs doors/windows and installs roof components.
• Performs finishing work including trim, sanding, staining, and painting.
• Loads/unloads materials at job sites and shovels/sweeps debris.
• Performs demolition duties as needed.

Job description

Dick Anderson Construction is seeking experienced and motivated Carpenters to join our team in Helena, MT.

The Carpenter is responsible for independently performing a variety of carpentry and general building construction tasks at various residential, commercial, and/or industrial job site locations. This position reports to the Project Foreman or Project Superintendent.

Responsibilities Include

• Performs basic layout work for new construction sites and/or remodels.
• Constructs and positions concrete forms for footings and foundations using power and hand tools. Occasionally may help pour concrete. Disassembles forms when concrete is set.
• Installs and sets floor joists, frames floor, and lays down sheets of plywood to build the sub-floor.
• Builds exterior/interior walls, stands walls up, and braces/secures them into place.
• Installs protective sheeting around exterior walls to seal out weather from the walls.
• Frames openings for windows and doors.
• Hangs exterior/interior doors and exterior windows.
• Installs roof trusses, sheets of plywood, and lays roof sheeting.
• Performs finishing work, including installing inside trim pieces, sanding, staining, and/or painting.
• Loads and unloads materials and supplies from trucks/trailers at job sites.
• Packs materials to specific areas at the construction site as needed.
• Performs housekeeping and keeps work area clean throughout the project and removes trash and debris. Will shovel, sweep, and pick up materials by hand
• Performs demolition duties of existing structures as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous construction experience required
• Understanding of finishing work
• Basic ability to read and understand blueprints
• Knowledge of operating finish trim tools
• Ability to frame walls
• Ability to manage a crew of 2–3 workers, depending on project requirements
• Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation to job sites
• Must provide basic hand tools; specialty tools and equipment are provided by the employer
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
