A Carpenter Foreman performs journeyman-level work in rough and finish carpentry, altering and constructing buildings, cabinets, specialty wood items, and general remodeling. The Carpenter Foreman supervisesandcoordinates the work of a (1) crew of workers. Additionally, Carpenter Foremen are responsible for seeing the workers under them do their job skillfully and efficiently and that assigned work progresses on schedule.

Education and Training
To become a Carpenter Foreman, one must demonstrate proficiency as a Carpenter and as an artisan, illustrate an above-average knowledge of all facets of a particular trade, and consistently do noticeably good work. A Carpenter Foreman should have the same basic aptitude and interests as those working in the craft being supervised, plus additional reading, writing, and math skills. The ability to motivate workers and communicate with them and superiors is essential. A Carpenter Foreman must often lead by example. Typically, a Carpenter Foreman has a minimum of 5+ years in the trade.
