POSITION SUMMARY
Carpenters are responsible for building forms, bracing, shoring, and other support structures in the construction of various commercial buildings. This includes, but is not limited to, office buildings, schools, religious facilities, and healthcare facilities. Tasks are performed as determined by each specific job site.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS: CARPENTERS CLASSIFICATIONS IN COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION
Carpenters in commercial construction are involved in various tasks including constructing and repairing structures, fixtures, formwork, and supports made of wood, steel, aluminum, or other materials. Responsibilities also include wrecking formwork, installing decking, watching concrete pours, rigging, signaling heavy equipment, driving piling and auger cast piles, building structures during excavation, reading blueprints, performing layout work, operating levels and lasers, setting batter boards and grade stakes, laying wire mesh, placing precast concrete, installing temporary wire walls, operating power tools and equipment, setting screeds or rails for pouring, building chutes, trailers, temporary structures, welding, torch cutting, installing lagging, scaffolding, handrails, formwork attachments, and interior and exterior framing, among others.
