Job summary

Onni seeks a Carpentry Foreman to lead a union crew on commercial projects in the Chicago area. You will supervise carpenters, manage layouts, and coordinate materials, while ensuring safety and adherence to plans and schedules.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years as journeyman carpenters, active union standing or eligible referral, and strong leadership and communication skills. OSHA 10 is required; OSHA 30 preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily activities of the carpenter crew per drawings and specs.
• Perform layout of metal stud framing, openings, soffits, and ceiling grid systems.
• Coordinate material orders and deliveries with PM and laborers.
• Ensure crew compliance with safety program and OSHA requirements.
• Complete daily reports, timecards, and manpower logs.
• Report progress and field issues to PM/Superintendent promptly.
• Coordinate sequencing with mechanical, electrical, plumbing trades.
• Maintain tool/equipment inventory and a safe jobsite.
• Enforce CRCC work rules and jurisdictional agreements.
• Train journeyman and apprentice carpenters on the crew.

Job Description

Inline Drywall Illinois, Inc. is a union commercial drywall and carpentry contractor operating in the Chicago metropolitan area. The Company is a signatory contractor to the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters (CRCC) collective bargaining agreement. The Carpenter Foreman leads a crew of union carpenters performing metal stud framing, drywall hanging, and finish carpentry on commercial jobsites, ensuring work is completed safely, per plans and specifications, and on schedule.

What Will You Do?

• Supervise and direct the daily activities of the carpenter crew in accordance with approved drawings and specifications
• Perform and verify layout of metal stud framing, door/window openings, soffits, and ceiling grid systems
• Perform material orders and coordinate material deliveries, staging, and manpower needs with the Project Manager and Laborers
• Ensure crew compliance with the Company's safety program, required PPE, and OSHA regulations
• Complete accurate daily reports, timecards, and manpower logs
• Communicate progress, delays, and field issues to the Project Manager/Superintendent in a timely manner
• Coordinate sequencing with other trades (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) for in-wall rough-in work
• Maintain tool and equipment inventory and ensure an organized, safe jobsite
• Enforce CRCC work rules and jurisdictional agreements on the jobsite
• Train and mentor journeyman and apprentice carpenters on the crew

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience as a journeyman carpenter in commercial construction, including prior lead or foreman experience
• Active member in good standing with the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, or eligible for union referral
• Strong working knowledge of metal stud framing, drywall hanging, and blueprint/specification reading
• OSHA 10-Hour certification required; OSHA 30-Hour preferred
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Valid driver's license preferred

Salary Range: Carpenter Foreman pay rates per the CRCC CBA
