Job summary

Travis County Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a full-time Carpenter to support weatherization and carpentry work in Austin. The role emphasizes teamwork, community service, and professional integrity while providing comprehensive benefits and a compassionate work environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus 4 years general carpentry/weatherization experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled carpentry and weatherization functions; assists in final home inspection.
• Provides on-the-job training for crewmembers and volunteers.
• Assigns and reviews work, and trains personnel.
• Estimates materials needed and coordinates with purchasing; compiles reports.
• Provides instruction on safety operations of equipment.
• Refers clients to other agencies for services not covered by the County.
• Monitors materials and tools inventory in the shop and on the job site.
• Maintains vehicles, and reports needed repairs to assure safe operations.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
