Job summary

The University of Florida is seeking a Carpenter to join the Facilities Operations team at Main Campus (Gainesville, FL). You will perform general carpentry and maintenance for residence hall facilities, fabricate and install cabinetry, read blueprints, and support CNC/millwork workflows to supply shop output.

Applicants should have completed an approved carpentry apprenticeship or hold a high school diploma with three years of relevant experience, plus a valid Florida driver's license; strong

Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in carpentry; or a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Vocational/technical training may substitute for the required experience.
  • Valid FL driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general carpentry tasks using power and hand tools to construct or assemble furniture parts and install cabinets and millwork.
  • Cut, assemble, laminate, and install cabinetry and related items; fabricate or repair counters, benches, partitions, or other wooden structures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications; design cabinetry in CAD/CAM software and program CNC machines.
  • Monitor workflow, productivity, and quality tolerances; manage work orders and maintain clean, organized workspaces.
  • Complete door, frame, and lock repairs and demolition of carpentry materials; ensure adherence to safety protocols.
