Job summary

Granite Construction is hiring a Carpenter in Mission, TX to construct, erect, install, and repair structures using wood, plywood, and related materials. You will read blueprints, prepare layouts, select materials, and work with hand and power tools to build to spec.

The role requires physical fitness, the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and familiarity with local building codes. On-the-job training is provided. Granite promotes equal opportunity and a drug-free workplace.

Qualifications

• Studies blueprints and plans to determine material type and dimensions.
• Selects lumber and materials per specifications.
• Prepares layout using ruler, framing square, and calipers.
• Marks cutting lines on materials.
• Shapes materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes.

Responsibilities

• Assembles cut materials and fastens with nails, pins, or glue.
• Verifies trueness with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
• Erects framework, stairs, and partitions; installs window frames and trim.
• Covers subflooring and installs floors; secures finishes and hardware.
• Constructs forms and scaffolding for elevated work.
