Job summary

Basin Holdings is seeking a Carpenter Apprentice to support wooden and corrugated production at our New Jersey facility. The role involves operating wood cutting and assembly equipment under the plant manager's supervision, with emphasis on quality and safety.

Primary duties include material handling, assembly, and packaging, plus paperwork accuracy. Applicants should have basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to earn forklift certification if not already certified.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years’ experience operating/maintaining wood cutting and/or assembly equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Able to perform skilled work of moderate difficulty with initiative.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Good communication with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Feed corrugated machine.
• Fold inserts.
• Package product.
• Cut wood to length on saw per work orders.
• Assemble skids and crates per work orders.
• Move raw materials and finished product with hand trucks or forklift.
• Stage raw materials for assembly.
• Package finished goods for shipment.
• Stock completed items in the appropriate place.
• Complete and turn in paperwork including actual quantity and time sheets.
• Clean up work area and maintain shop cleanliness.
• Operate forklift once certified and assist other areas as needed.
• Maintain safety and PPE.

Carpenter Apprentice

Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Associate is responsible for executing the daily tasks assigned by the plant manager.

Essential Functions

Corrugated:

• Feed Corrugated machine
• Fold Inserts
• Package product

Wood

• Cut wood to length on saw per work orders
• Assemble skids and crates per work orders

General

• Move raw materials and finished product with hand trucks or forklift (see forklift note below)
• Stage raw materials for assembly
• Package finished goods for shipment
• Stock completed items in the appropriate place
• Complete and turn in paperwork including
  • Actual quantity
  • Time sheets
• Clean up work area (corrugated/wood/General Shop)

Other Responsibilities

• Forklift operation (once certified)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
