Job summary

Work hours are 6:30am – 3:15pm, Monday through Friday.

SWC is a state operated Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities located in Union Grove, WI . Position Summary

This position is responsible for carpentry construction and repair work assignments at SWC. Example of duties include:

  • Installing, repairing, and replacing wood and metal doors, windows, and screens.
  • Maintaining physical plant roof to include minor repairs, shingles, and flat rubber.
  • Building and repairing cabinetry, shelving, partitions, etc.
Salary Information

Pay is based on the number of leave hours selected in accordance with the Trade Rates Booklet in effect at time of appointment. $49.88 if 100 hours of leave, $49.11 if 140 hours of leave, or $48.33 if 180 hours of leave.

The pay schedule/range is 04-00. A 12 month probationary period is required. This position is represented by the Wisconsin State Building Trades bargaining unit. Current employeespay will be set in accordance with the contract and rate booklet.

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

Thispositionhasphysical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 80 lbs to shoulder height, climbing ladders, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, standing, sitting and working on feet for extended periods of time. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

This position requiresthe ability to drive a State vehicle. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy, which are:

  • Must have a valid driver's license;
  • Must have minimum of two years non-probationary licensed driving experience with a regular (Class D) driver's license;
  • Must be 18 years of age.

Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:

  • Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;
  • Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;
  • Suspension or revocation of driver's license.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Possession of a certification of completion of a carpenter apprenticeship approved by the Department of Workforce DevelopmentOR formal recognition of status by the appropriate international or local trade organizationOR informal training and experience equivalent to the formal apprenticeship and journeyman status (documentation of proof will be requested).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.
  • Knowledge of current building and fire codes.

Well-qualified applicants will also have the following:

  • Training or experience in door installation and repair including hardware, pinning, and keying locks.
