Job summary

Knife River Northwest in Oregon seeks a skilled residential carpenter to join our team. You will read blueprints, frame walls, floors, roofs, install doors and windows, and manage site safety while delivering high workmanship.

The role requires at least 3 years of residential carpentry experience, ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and a valid driver's license. You must be prepared to work overtime and pass pre-employment screening; reliability and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of residential carpentry experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and building plans.
  • Working knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and applicable building codes.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in residential construction.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Dependable, hardworking, and able to maintain a positive team attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary to meet project demands.
  • Must adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and be subject to company testing policies.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing ladders, working at heights, and working in varying weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install lumber, wood substitutes, drywall, and other building materials.
  • Construct, install, and repair residential structures, including framing, walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, decks, porches, and stair systems.
  • Install doors, windows, trim, cabinetry, molding, siding, and other finish carpentry components.
  • Lead all phases of residential carpentry projects from site preparation through final finishes while maintaining high workmanship standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and team members to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and company quality standards.
  • Perform remodeling and renovation work, including demolition, repairs, and reconstruction of existing residential structures.
  • Identify and communicate material, equipment, scheduling, quality, or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Assist with estimating material quantities and communicating supply needs.
  • Manage material deliveries and verify accuracy and quality of received materials.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites, including proper storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Protect client property and deliver positive customer experience throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Complete punch-list items and final project details to ensure client satisfaction and successful project closeout.
  • Follow all OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and jobsite safety procedures at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
