Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting in Pontiac, MI is seeking an experienced carpenter to join our commercial construction team. You will lay out, install doors and hardware, millwork, interior painting, and read blueprints to ensure accurate, high-quality installations.

You will mentor apprentices on smaller projects, support foremen, maintain job site safety, and handle loading/unloading materials. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years carpentry experience in commercial setting
  • Ability to work with all personality types
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Self-directed and can work independently
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions from foreman and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
  • Ability to lead an apprentice on smaller projects
  • Support apprentices, other carpenters, and foreman on various small/large projects
  • Understanding design layouts and blueprints
  • Keep the job site clean and well-organized
  • Handle the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards
  • Fuel and wash department vehicles

  • Mobile crane certified and & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO - Preferred)
Tool experience:
  • Wood working tools - Circular saw, hand saw, power drills, etc.
  • Metal Working tools - hand saw, bandsaw, grinders, etc.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
  • Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
  • Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
