Job Summary/Basic Function

NOTE : Position can be filled at any level of the approved career ladder depending on candidate qualifications.

The Carpenter provides basic carpentry services to all Weber State University campuses. The person in this position must complete WSU Driver Safety Training annually.

Required Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma.
  • One year of full-time related work experience.
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry and carpentry maintenance.
  • Basic experience with maintenance and repair of drywall, concrete, and plaster walls.
  • Basic experience with carpentry and carpentry maintenance (e.g. door hardware, modular furniture, etc.).
  • Basic computing skills.
  • A valid Utah Driver License is a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to schedule work requests using Facilities Management’s CMMS work request system.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes, standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of lift equipment operation (e.g. forklifts, scissorlifts), hazardous materials handling safety procedures, asbestos abatement and scaffold safety.
