Job summary

NOR Design & Construction is seeking a skilled Carpenter to execute daily on-site carpentry for residential remodeling projects. You will work under the lead Carpenter, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

The role requires hands-on experience in framing, cabinetry, finish carpentry, and door/window installations, with strong communication and attention to detail. Local candidates within 30 miles of Seattle preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on residential construction with advanced carpentry skills and, ideally, supervisory experience.
  • Strong framing, doors, cabinetry, and finish carpentry capabilities.
  • Ability to read basic CAD construction documents (floor plans, elevations, sections).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Office, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Willingness to learn other project planning apps or software.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the lead Carpenter and support daily job site production for residential remodeling projects.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe workspace for clients and workers.
  • Perform carpentry tasks including framing, cabinet and trim work, door/window installs, and interior finish work.
  • Manage material pickups/deliveries and assist with project demos.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members; uphold high-quality workmanship.

Job description

Core Responsibilities

The Carpenter at NOR Design and Construction will report to the lead Carpenter who implements the daily job site production of residential remodeling projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction. This hands-on role involves performing skilled carpentry and standard construction tasks, all while maintaining a tidy and safe workspace for both the client and the workers.

Core Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Team Player but also highly motivated when working independently
  • Attention to detail – see something questionable, say something before it is too late
  • Obsession with having a clean and organized job site – always
  • Time management skills
  • Project Demo and disposal
  • Set up and take down of proper dust and floor protection at the start of the project and maintained throughout the project
  • General framing and structural changes
  • Cabinet and trim/molding Install
  • Door and Window install
  • Interior finish trim/molding/casing work
  • Basic flooring installation/repair
  • General handyman maintenance and repairs for existing and new customers
  • Material pickup/delivery, within reason
General Qualifications

Expectations:

  • Personal, approachable, and with excellent communication skills.
  • oKeeps calm, cool, concise communication, both verbal and written
  • oCan communicate via in-person with clients and is proficient with group phone text and emails
  • Tools for the job, keeping them in good working order
  • Construction-appropriate, reliable transportation
  • Clean driving record with proof of insurance
  • Able to pass required pre-employment screenings, including criminal background, MVR, and drug screenings
  • Able to perform physical exertion including carrying, climbing, crawling, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, hauling, and lifting as much as 100lbs
  • Must live within 30 miles radius of Seattle
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience of hands-on Residential construction with advanced carpentry skills and prior supervisory experience
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in framing windows, doors, siding, cabinetry and finish carpentry
  • Ability to comprehend basic CAD construction documents (floor plans, elevations, & sections)
  • Microsoft Office Products: Office, Excel, Word, Teams, and Sharepoint
  • Willingness to learn other project planning apps or software
Compensation/Benefits

Schedule (typical office hours):

  • Monday – Friday
  • Hours can flex pending on project scope and location requirements 7am- 5 pm
