EMPLOYMENT BEGINS:As soon as possible
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- To maintain all building and related entities in such a manner that students have a safe and comfortable place in which to learn.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Texas Driver's License with less that three (3) moving traffic violations within the past three (3) years
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Demonstrate successful experience in carpentry, glazing, concrete finishing, framing and/or repairs.
- Possess working knowledge of general carpentry.
- Exhibit familiarity with building mechanics and skilled in the use of required tools.
- Possess ability to work with and communicate with fellow workers, teachers, and administrators.
- All forms of carpentry power equipment as well as assorted carpentry hand tools.
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in carpentry, glazing, concrete finishing, framing and/or repairs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of both internal and external building systems of the district.
- Assist in the preventative maintenance and repairs of district facilities.
- Assist in the operation and proper care of assigned vehicles and tools.
- Keep trucks supplied with appropriate replacement parts and materials in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Complete work orders by carefully documenting work performed and materials used.
- Provide supervisor with written notice of conditions that need the supervisor's attention, whether of a preventative, safety, or factual need.
- Make emergency repairs to school property due to vandalism or other disorders in order to provide safety and security.
- Perform other duties as requested.

- Lifting and carrying items in excess of 100 lbs.
- Pushing a wheelbarrow full of either dirt or concrete.
- Stooping, bending, kneeling, and crawling.
- Seeing with corrected vision to read tapes, squares, etc.
- Exposure to weather extremes of hot and cold climate.
- Breathing sawdust and sawdust particles.
- Moderate to loud noise in the work environment.
