Job summary

Reading Truck is seeking a Custom Truck Carpenter in Houston, Texas responsible for building and finishing custom truck bodies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on carpentry experience and the ability to read blueprints accurately.

In this hands-on role, you will create truck interiors and perform detailed carpentry work, ensuring that all safety policies are followed. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on carpentry or cabinetmaking experience is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and tape measures accurately.
  • Strong communication skills to follow written and verbal instructions.

How You Will Make An Impact

As a Custom Truck Carpenter at Reading Truck, you’ll play a key role in building and finishing custom truck bodies from the ground up. This hands‑on position requires craftsmanship that directly impacts the quality, durability, and functionality of our final product.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements
  • Build and install truck interiors including shelving, flooring, panels, trim, cabinetry, and ceilings
  • Perform finish carpentry work such as trim, molding, and detailed installations
  • Cut, measure, and assemble wood, aluminum, galvanized steel, and composite materials
  • Read blueprints, shop drawings, and layout instructions to ensure accuracy
  • Install hardware including brackets, hinges, fasteners, and other components
  • Sand, finish, and seal surfaces to meet quality and durability standards
  • Inspect work and identify defects or needed repairs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform basic maintenance checks on tools and equipment
  • Support team production goals and assist other departments as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Credentials
  • Hands‑on carpentry or cabinetmaking experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and tape measures accurately
  • Own set of hand and power tools suitable for carpentry
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
