Responsibilities

  • Inspect buildings and communicate findings to the Lead Carpenter.
  • Perform interior and exterior maintenance and weather-stripping repairs.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools.

What You'll Do

As our Journeyman Carpenter, you'll play an important role in maintaining and improving the spaces where our residents live, grow, and thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Install structures, fixtures, frameworks, and other components according to specifications and project instructions.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and install wood, plastic, fiberglass, and other materials.
  • Construct frameworks such as wall studs, doorframes, and other structural components.
  • Repair and maintain wood structures, including windows, frames, flooring, furniture, and cabinetry.
  • Inspect buildings and wooden structures to identify maintenance, repair, and improvement needs and communicate findings to the Lead Carpenter.
  • Perform interior and exterior building maintenance, including weather-stripping repairs.
  • Install siding and drywall and ensure scaffolding is properly erected and safely secured.
  • Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Build countertops and perform cabinet and furniture fabrication.
  • Install metal doors, set door jambs, and complete related finish work.
  • Perform interior renovations, repairs, and general maintenance of furniture and wooden frameworks.
  • Apply electrical knowledge and experience to appropriate maintenance, repair, and renovation projects.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Advocate for and uphold the rights, dignity, and well-being of all Flatrock residents.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least2 years of professional carpentry experience.
  • Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Electrical experience strongly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, materials, and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and follow project specifications and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work safely and independently while also collaborating with the maintenance team.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
