Job summary

Deployed Global Solutions, LLC in Rome, NY is seeking a skilled Carpenter to build, install, and repair structural components in industrial and commercial settings. You will read plans, measure and cut materials, and ensure high-quality workmanship under safety regulations.

This full-time, on-site role offers a relocation incentive of $5,000 for eligible applicants relocating to Rome, NY and requires ability to obtain a federal security clearance and pass background/drug tests.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• 5+ years’ experience as a carpenter in industrial and/or commercial environments.
• MUST be able to obtain federal government security clearance and work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, work instructions, and design documents to determine project requirements.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other materials using hand and power tools.
• Construct and install walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, and other structural components using wood, steel, concrete, plastics, and composites.
• Fit and install windows, door frames, doors, hardware, and interior/exterior trim.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for work at elevations.
• Inspect completed work, identify deficiencies, and perform repairs as needed.
• Assist with other day-to-day production activities in other trade areas.

The Carpenter builds, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs manufactured products and construction supply. The Carpenter performs and completes a variety of carpentry tasks in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and company procedures, while adhering to established industry and quality standards, safety regulations, and production requirements. As necessary, the Carpenter performs other trade tasks to support company projects.

Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Read blueprints, work instructions, and other design documents to determine project requirements.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other materials using hand and power tools.
• Construct and install walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, and other structural components using wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
• Fit and install windows, door frames, doors, hardware, and interior and exterior trim.
• Erect and use scaffolding and ladders for performing work at elevated heights.
• Inspect completed work, identify deficiencies, and perform repairs as needed.
• Assist with other day-to-day production activities in other trade areas.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not require the supervision of direct reports.

This position operates in professional office, workshop, production facility, and field environments which include working near moving mechanical parts, non-weather wet or humid conditions, and extreme cold and heat, using tools of the trade and other equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb, and stand. Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. may occur.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, on-site, hourly position. Standard days and hours are 40 hours per week, weekends and extended hours as needed. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on business needs.

DGS will pay a one-time, completely discretionary relocation incentive of $5,000.00 for a qualified applicant to relocate to Rome, NY for daily work at the DGS location there. The incentive will be payable once a qualified and selected candidate provides evidence of relocation and is contingent (vests) upon satisfactory completion of one year of misconduct-free employment, otherwise repayment of the incentive is required. Any offer of employment to a candidate not located in the Rome, NY area is contingent upon relocation to the vicinity of Rome, NY.

Travel

Occasional travel will be required.

Required Education and Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• 5+ years’ experience as a carpenter in industrial and/or commercial environments.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) drug test and motor vehicle record review.
• Must possess a valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID requirements.
• Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
