Qualifications

• High School diploma is required; a 2-year carpentry program is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of on-the-job construction or carpentry experience.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsabilités

• Follow Roers' core values when collaborating with team members and customers.
• Measure, mark, cut, and assemble materials using hand and power tools.
• Read blueprints and plans to determine dimensions and materials.
• Erect scaffolding, install fixtures, and finish wood surfaces.
• Inspect and repair structures; ensure safety and quality on site.
• Perform minor plumbing, welding, or concrete mixing tasks as needed.

Roers is looking to expand our team of qualified Carpenters for current & future projects in and around Bismarck, ND. Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Follow and demonstrate Roers’ Core Values of Respect, Opportunity, Partnership, Experience, Expertise, and Community when working with team members, customers, and our external communities.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace using hand tools.
• Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using a carpenter's hand and power tools.
• Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses and buildings using paint, hand tools, and paneling.
• Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
• Work with and/or remove hazardous material.
• Building demolition
• Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
• Cover subfloors with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base.
• Fill cracks and other defects in plaster or plasterboard and sand patch, using patching plaster, trowel, and sanding tool.
• Perform minor plumbing, welding and/or concrete mixing work.

Other Requirements:

• Able to follow and implement oral and written directions from crew foreman.
• Ability to work well without supervision and anticipate work that needs to be done.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Frequent standing, kneeling and lifting.
• Possible out of town travel during the week.
• Have tools that are required for position
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Education/Experience:

• High School diploma
• 2-year construction or carpentry program preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience on the job or any experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. (prior construction work, farming or other physical labor position).

Work Environment:

Carpenters work on many different types of construction projects, so their working environment depends on the type of project that they are working on. They work both indoors and outdoors and will be subject to variable weather conditions (inclement, heat/humidity, cold, wind) and site conditions (exposure to dust, noise, etc.).
