Job summary

CBRE Government & Defense is seeking a skilled carpenter to perform a range of woodwork duties at our Annapolis-area facility. Responsibilities include planning, blueprint reading, material selection, and maintenance of wood fixtures, doors, benches, and trim, with attention to safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 5 years of relevant experience, and a trade certificate. Proficiency with MS Office and CMMS software is highly valued, with lifting 50 lbs and occasional

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years relevant work experience.
• Any Technical or Trade school certificate in related field.

Responsibilities

• Planning and laying out of projects.
• Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
• Use of a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable powertools and standard measuring instruments.
• Able to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
• Selection of necessary materials for the job.
• Training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
• Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces.
• Assists others as part of the maintenance team as required and performs other duties assigned according to personal qualifications.
• Improves and maintains the overall interior appearance by painting and redecorating walls, woodwork and fixtures.
• Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, paint with a spray gun or brush.

Job description

Necessary carpentry duties include but are not limited to building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trims made of wood. Requires knowledge of the trade.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand forlong periodsof time, constant arm extensions.
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
• Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of computer software programs to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlookrequired.
• Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired.

The rate for this position is $33.58. This position may also be eligible for a wide range of benefits based on applicable bargaining unit agreements.
