Job summary

CBRE Government and Defense is seeking a skilled carpenter to perform a range of duties including framing, drywall, and finishing work. The role requires reading blueprints, using a variety of hand and power tools, and ensuring accuracy in measurements and material selection.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of carpentry experience, a high school diploma, and a technical certificate. Background checks and NAC/LAC clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience.
• High School Diploma required.
• Technical or trade school certificate in related field.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience with CMMS software is highly desired.
• Able to pass local background check and have the ability to obtain NAC/LAC clearance after hire.

Job description

Necessary carpentry duties include but are not limited to wood and metal framing, blocking, drywall patching, hanging doors & hardware, trim, specialties, temporary walls, etc. Requires knowledge of the trade.

Primary Job Functions

• Planning and laying out of projects.
• Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
• Use of a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable powertoolsand standard measuring instruments.
• Able to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
• Selectionof necessary materials for the job.
• Training and experience usuallyacquiredthrough a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
• Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces.
• Assistsothers as part of the maintenance team asrequiredand performs other duties assigned according to personal qualifications.
• Improves andmaintainsthe overall interior appearance by painting and redecorating walls,woodworkand fixtures.Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paintrequiredfor different applications.
• Preparesurfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices,paint with a spray gun or brush.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand forlong periodsof time, constant arm extensions.
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
• Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire.
