Job summary

Turner Construction Company is offering an internship/coop opportunity on construction projects in the Carolinas division, with assignments at Charlotte, NC or nearby sites. You will work under supervision on day-to-day activities to build foundational knowledge in construction management, safety, and project coordination, with potential academic credit.

You will assist project teams with meetings, reporting, RFIs, submittals, and site communications, while learning from Project Engineers,

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited degree program (Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management) and at least 1 year of study.
• Must be 18+ to work on a construction site.
• Desire to work in construction management and to learn about the industry.
• Commitment to standard business hours and overtime as determined by assignment.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills including leadership, volunteerism, or community involvement.
• Clear verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to read and comprehend written information.
• Personal and professional accountability; proactive and eager to learn.
• Able to work independently or in a team; strong organization.

Responsibilities

• Work at active construction site or main office as assigned by business need.
• Assist with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting.
• Follow site signage and supervisor instructions; learn construction management.
• Relate academic knowledge to work activities.
• Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and subcontractors.
• Participate in training, meetings, and orientation.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Assist with start-up activities and support Project Engineer/Manager.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and contract requirements.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and learn cost details.
• Attend site visits and document field activities.
• Prepare and distribute communications to architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with trades to track schedules.
• Monitor Turner safety program compliance.
• Assist with subcontractor proposals.
• Assist with project close-out preparations.
