Job summary

Presbyterian Living's Westminster Place in Evanston, IL is seeking a compassionate Resident Assistant for a part-time shift from 7am to 3pm, every other weekend. The role provides direct and indirect care under nurse supervision in either skilled care or assisted living, with an hourly rate of $17.55–$21.00 based on experience.

You will help residents with hygiene, dressing, mobility, and medication reminders, while communicating clearly and supporting geriatric residents.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois nursing assistant certification
• Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English; able to use medical terminology on the job
• Ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills

Responsibilities

• Personal hygiene, grooming advice and assistance.
• Dressing assistance.
• Stand‑by shower or full bathing assistance.
• Handling and care of clothing and other personal property, including dentures, glasses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices.
• Escorting and transporting residents, transferring as needed.
• Provides assistance to low vision residents by reading mail, menus, schedules, etc.
• Reminds residents of activities and special events.
• Observes and reports changes in resident's physical condition and cognitive/emotional status according to policies and procedures.
• Monitors for and reports unusual occurrences, accidents or safety concerns and reports to Director of Assisted Living.
• Reminds residents to take pre-dispensed, self-administered medications, observes residents and documents whether or not the resident takes the medications according to established policies and procedures.
