Job summary

UF Health Shands Homecare is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PRN) to support a Registered Nurse by performing routine procedures and providing compassionate nursing care under supervision. This role helps achieve patient advocacy and high-quality care in a trusted, collaborative environment.

Qualified candidates include CNAs, EMTs or Paramedics, or nursing students enrolled in approved programs, with NCLEX timelines as applicable.

Qualifications

• CNA/EMT/Paramedic licensure or active nursing student status.
• Clinical patient care experience preferred for CNAs.
• Eligibility for NCLEX testing within stated windows.

Education

Licensed EMT or Paramedic

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with high school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of patient care experience

Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program

NCLEX awaiting authorization (up to 90 days post-graduation)

NCLEX unsuccessful (up to 6 months post initial authorization)

CNA training program completion (high school level CNAs with instructor recommendation)
