Job summary

The Southwood in Winston-Salem, NC is looking for a compassionate Resident Transporter to safely transport residents to medical appointments, community activities, and other outings.

The role emphasizes safety, strong communication, and dependable mobility assistance, with responsibilities spanning vehicle maintenance, scheduling support, and accurate transportation logs. Successful candidates will have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and a patient, service-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required).
• Experience in transportation, healthcare, or customer service (preferred).
• Ability to safely operate a passenger transport vehicle (training provided).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; compassion for the elderly.

Responsibilities

• Safe Transportation: Safely transport residents to and from scheduled medical appointments, social outings, and other activities as directed.
• Resident Assistance: Provide assistance to residents during boarding and exiting vehicles, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure company vehicles are clean, fueled, and properly maintained; report issues to management.
• Schedule Coordination: Work with staff and residents to ensure timely transportation scheduling and efficient route planning.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow traffic laws, safety regulations, and facility protocols for a secure travel experience.
• Communication & Documentation: Maintain transportation logs and report incidents or concerns to staff.
• Customer Service: Engage with residents in a friendly and professional manner.
