Mackenthun’s is hiring an Assistant Manager to lead our Caribou Coffee team. This hands-on role focuses on people, operations, and delivering exceptional guest experiences across shifts.

You will supervise staff, help hire/train, manage inventory, and support sales initiatives while upholding Mackenthun’s standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate has strong leadership and communication skills, customer service experience, and the ability to work a variable schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Strong customer service and leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to lead shifts, train staff and manage operations.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to help lead our Caribou Coffee team and keep the good vibes and great coffee flowing! This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, keeping things moving and making sure every guest leaves happy.

The Assistant Caribou Manager supports daily operations and supervises staff during shifts to ensure exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and a welcoming atmosphere. This role actively upholds Mackenthun’s values, fosters team engagement, and helps drive sales and profitability while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Team Leadership & Development

• Supervise and support baristas and team members during shifts.
• Assist with hiring, training and coaching, providing ongoing feedback and performance support.
• Foster a positive, motivating work environment that encourages teamwork, engagement and retention.
• Ensure team members follow company policies, food safety standards and operational procedures.

Customer Service & Guest Experience

• Lead by example in providing friendly, welcoming and efficient customer service.
• Greet customers, take orders, craft beverages and process payments accurately.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Build relationships with regular customers and community members while creating an atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.

Operations & Sales

• Assist with inventory, supply ordering and cost control.
• Monitor cash handling and assist with daily cash-outs.
• Support promotions and seasonal offerings to encourage sales and repeat business.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Help ensure POS systems and daily operations run smoothly.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Oversee cleaning and maintenance of coffee equipment during shifts.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate repairs when needed.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are properly maintained and functioning.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Customer service experience required; supervisory or coffee shop/restaurant management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP certification preferred or willingness to obtain).
• Proficiency with basic computer programs, including POS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Availability to work variable hours between 5:00 AM – 6:30 PM, including weekends and some holidays.
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to hot equipment, cleaning chemicals, and a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks and work collaboratively in a busy, team-oriented setting.
