Job summary

Avflight Corporation is seeking a warehouse cargo handler in Detroit to receive, store, and release air cargo, while ensuring accuracy and safety. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, perform daily equipment checks, and maintain a clean workspace on an airport campus.

The role requires lifting 50+ lbs, outdoor work in varying weather, and availability for swing/graveyard shifts including weekends. Background checks and legal work authorization are prerequisites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be willing to work outside in all weather and airport noise.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
• Ability to work under time constraints.
• Available for varied hours including swing/graveyard shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Must pass background check, pre-employment drug test and obtain security clearance.
• Must have authorization to work in the U.S.
• Must have a valid Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Receives cargo and releases cargo to consignors, consignees, brokers, agents, truckers, etc., with checks for damage and tampering.
• Checks freight for piece count, weight, dimensions and documents on acceptance/delivery.
• Issues warehouse receipts or keeps signed delivery receipts.
• Performs daily equipment preventive maintenance and safety checks.
• Operates basic cargo handling equipment (forklift, aircraft pallets, pallet jacks).
• Maintains a neat, orderly warehouse and office area; removes snow/ice from walkways and docks.
• Notices and reports damaged or broken equipment; performs other duties as assigned.
