Job summary

Qatar Airways in Houston, TX seeks a Cargo Operations Supervisor to lead the cargo team and ensure compliant, efficient operations. You will coordinate with GHA and staff, monitor safety and capacity utilization, and maintain strong customer service across import/export processes.

Responsibilities include optimizing flight capacity, handling customer requests, rostering, and preparing regular cargo reports. IATA DG knowledge, leadership, and bilingual English/German skills are required.

• Ensure all safety measures are taken by operations staff as well as GHA.
• Ensure all staff adheres to optimal use of capacity to maximize revenue with on time performance for freighters.
• Handle customer requirement/request professionally on a daily basis; resolve issues and reduce complaints.
• Prepare staff roster to ensure proper distribution of manpower and brief staff with changes.
• Support Sales to keep systems updates with operational information.
• Prepare Cargo report when required by Management.
• Liaise with local Ground Handling Agents and Head Office Cargo Department for high quality service.
• Support import customers for clearance of their cargo; liaise with customs authorities.
• Coordinate flight planning to maximize capacity; ensure space utilization on aircraft.
• Produce weekly/monthly service reports and system accounting updates.

Job Description

As the business expands, we are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Cargo Operations Team in Houston, TX as a Cargo Operations Supervisor.

You will be responsible for facilitating smooth cargo operations at the region through close coordination with the GHA’s and staff within the stations. Continuously monitor and develop adherence to regulations outlined by local authorities and regulatory bodies, and ensure strict compliance to IATA regulations for effective movement of inbound and outbound cargo whilst reducing operational costs involved.

The Role Includes

• Ensure all safety measures are taken by operations staff as well as GHA
• Ensure all staff adheres to optimal use of capacity to maximize revenue whenever possible with on time performance for freighters.
• Handle customer requirement/request professionally on a daily basis. Assist staff and customers to resolve difficult issues /problems. Reduce customer complaints.
• Prepare staff roster to ensure proper distribution of manpower and brief staff with relevant changes in the industry and QR products/ services.
• Support Sales to keep systems updates with operational information
• Prepare Cargo report when required by Management
• Liaising with local Ground Handling Agents and with Head Office Cargo Department to ensure/enhance a high quality customer service provided in sales & operational areas.
• Support import customers for clearance of their cargo, liaise with customs authorities to facilitate smooth and timely import clearance, liaise with HQ DOH and/or origin stations for necessary support.
• Flight planning with maximum utilization of the flight capacity, control and operation export & import. Maintain a close coordination between QR Space Control and customers by ensuring their shipments are transferred, delivered on time, correct priority given to shipments and for maximum utilization of space on a/c.
• Weekly, monthly or whenever deemed necessary services reports including preparation system accounting updates on every flight departure.
