Job summary

Grand Canyon University (GCU) seeks a CSLP student worker to support Where Hope Lives residents in the Phoenix Valley. You will facilitate healing, life skills, and independent living while adhering to program policies and safety guidelines.

  • Strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Previous mentoring experience is a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language is a plus.
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Must be female and a Social Work or Counseling student is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a supportive presence for residents, including prayer and conversation, while respecting their schedules.
  • Ensure residents comply with treatment plans and daily schedules.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in common areas (TV room, living spaces, bathrooms, etc.).
  • Complete incident reports and forward them to the Caregiver’s mailbox.
  • Communicate resident concerns to Caregivers and, if needed, refer them to the Program Director.
  • Honor and enforce Where Hope Lives policies and procedures as outlined in the manual.
  • Assist with transportation of residents to medical appointments using company vehicles, requiring a valid AZ driver’s license.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary / Purpose

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3), including Where Hope Lives, a program for survivors of human trafficking. The CSLP student worker will support residents in the Phoenix Valley by facilitating healing, life skills, and independent living. The position is part of GCU’s Community Service Lifting Project (CSLP) and requires completion of a FAFSA for eligibility. Working hours are aligned with Where Hope Lives’ operations and are capped at 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Serve as a supportive presence for residents, including prayer and conversation, while respecting their schedules.

Equipment and Supervision

Microsoft Office Suite. No supervisory responsibilities.

Student Eligibility Requirements
  • Enrolled full‑time at GCU in a bachelor’s or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA for bachelor’s students or a 3.0 GPA for master’s students.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing.
  • Open enrollment positions may be posted to the university’s website.
Compensation and Duration

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage.
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027.
