Job summary

Providence at Home with Compassus in Long Beach, CA is seeking a compassionate Caregiver to provide one-on-one in-home care that keeps clients safe, comfortable, and independent.

You will assist with bathing, dressing, meals, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and daily activities, while reporting changes to the care plan.

The role requires a CA driver’s license, experience with older adults or disabled individuals, and a CNA or similar credential; BLS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Required: Valid California driver’s license and current auto insurance – driving may be necessary.
• Required: Experience with older adults and/or physically disabled individuals.
• Required: Professional caregiver experience or nursing student clinical exposure or CNA certification.
• Preferred: Active Home Care Aide (HCA) registration.
• Preferred: 6 months professional caregiving experience.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, incontinence care, transfers, and ambulation.
• Provide meal preparation, medication reminders, shopping, laundry, and light housekeeping.
• Support daily activities and exercises as directed by the Plan of Care.
• Observe and report changes in client condition.
• Build positive relationships with clients and families while delivering exceptional care.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.
