Brief Description

PCAs are the main support providers to our residents. They work daily to offer emotional support, assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as waking, toileting, feeding, safety, and social participation. PCAs serve as care providers, medical aides, and leaders within our Waltonwood communities. They report to the Resident Care Manager and are part of the Resident Care team. The role is challenging but rewarding, with residents appreciating the caregivers' efforts. Our department provides personalized care to seniors needing assistance with personal tasks, including bathing, toileting, dressing, mobility, medication, and social engagement. Compassion, patience, and understanding are essential to maintain resident independence and dignity.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Document medication and restock med carts following protocols.
  • Assist residents with ADLs such as toileting, showering, feeding, and light cleaning.
  • Participate in shift change meetings to communicate resident needs.
  • Respond promptly to emergency call systems.
  • Assist during meals, activities, and other needs.
  • Provide emotional support, respecting residents and maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Ensure safety and well-being using procedures, safety equipment, and awareness.
  • Assist with janitorial tasks as needed.
  • Act as shift supervisor to meet resident care needs.
  • Support Caregivers and Med Techs with transfers and duties.
  • Coordinate with physicians and pharmacy for medication management.
  • Report changes in medical conditions to relevant parties.
  • Complete required documentation such as care summaries and logs.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • PCA certification in NC and VA.
  • Caregiving or Med Tech experience.
  • Experience with elderly and residents with memory impairment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Manual dexterity, sensory skills, and mobility.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Exposure to water and chemicals occasionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical movements.
  • Constant standing and walking.
