Job summary

Silvergate San Marcos is seeking caring caregivers for our Memory Care Suite in a full-time role. You will support residents with activities of daily living, coordinate activities, and provide a comforting, home-like atmosphere for individuals living with dementia.

The team emphasizes compassionate care, ongoing training, and opportunities for advancement. Swing shifts (10AM-6PM) are available with benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement options.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older and able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • First Aid Certification required and willingness to obtain other certifications as needed.
  • Comfortable working with seniors and memory care residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care per the Silvergate Care Plan with ADLs like grooming, bathing, dressing, eating, toileting.
  • Assist residents with transfers, mobility and daily activities, escort to meals and activities.
  • Serve as a caring companion and liaison to families.
  • Record care statistics accurately and attend training sessions.
  • Operate within safety guidelines and document incident reports when needed.

This role offers ample opportunity to showcase your interpersonal skills, including active listening, extraordinary patience, and kind-hearted care. Under the management of the Memory Care Director, Caregivers support residents who may have challenges completing basic personal tasks such as dressing, bathing, eating or grooming. Caregivers help to coordinate a wide variety of activities for elderly residents in accordance with the company’s established guidelines and procedures. As a team member of a collaborative group of healthcare professionals, this position helps to ensure a safe and comfortable home-like environment within the retirement community setting for both Memory Care residents and their families.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide comprehensive care to residents per the Silvergate Care Plan, including assistance with these activities of daily living (ADL’s): Grooming, Bathing, Dressing, Eating, Toileting, Incontinent Care, Transfers, Escorting to meals and activities.Serve as a loving companion to residents in their daily journey at the community.Interact when necessary, as a reassuring liaison to family members.Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational programs.Recognize and understand the signs and symptoms of dementia and respond in accordance with training received.Escort residents to medical appointments, errands and offsite activities as needed.Use mechanical devices (Hoyer lift) to transfer residents as needed.Under direction of LVN Supervisor and/or Memory Care Director, record individual resident care statistics, including weight on a monthly basis.Thoroughly and accurately maintain all documentation.Carefully write and correctly recount Incident Reports as needed.Monitor supplies and communicate reporting needs to LVN Supervisor.Encourage socialization and participation in group activities, assisting with set up and cleanup of equipment and engagement tools as needed.Interact with medical professionals as required.Exhibit punctual and regular attendance.Bring to bear a high regard for excellent customer service at all times.Be compassionate, caring, patient and understanding of the needs of the elderly.Perform other duties as assigned.May occasionally be required to work beyond scheduled hours.A CAREER “WHERE EVERY DAY MATTERS”As strongly as we believe that every day matters for each of our residents, we are equally as passionate about providing a richly challenging, never-a-dull moment work environment for our team members.
