Job summary

The-Meadows in United States, Vermont, is seeking a compassionate caregiver to assist residents with daily living activities and personal care. You will help with medications reminders, meals, light housekeeping, and participation in social activities to enrich residents’ lives.

Ideal candidates will be 18 or older, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and committed to dignity, privacy, and independence for seniors. Training requirements and teamwork are emphasized for this role.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must meet in-service training requirements.
  • Desire to work with seniors with privacy, dignity, independence, and individuality.
  • Able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.
  • Read, write, and understand English; work well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident personal care and assistance with daily living activities.
  • Assist with medications reminders as indicated and per regulation.
  • Support meal services and help with dining.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe living environment.
  • Coordinate and participate in social/recreational activities for residents.
  • Respond to medical or safety emergencies promptly and report changes.
  • Adhere to infection control procedures and established care plans.
  • Document changes in resident needs and care in logs and notes.

The Caregiver is responsible for providing resident services, including assistance with personal care, medication reminders, social and recreational activities, meal services, and other tasks as needed to facilitate the continued well-being of the resident. He or she must be sensitive to the needs and desires of each resident and make an attempt to improve and enrich their lives.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents.Reviews resident Service Plans as needed to gain and maintain a familiarity with resident services needs and preferencesReviews the Staff Communication log and corresponding resident Service Notes on a daily basis for information about changes in resident service needs and/or health conditionsProvides personal services to residents as assigned and as indicated on resident Service PlansHelps residents with medications and/or treatments as indicated in the medication book and as assigned and allowed by regulationResponds to calls from the emergency call system in a timely mannerDemonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control proceduresHelps maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment by providing housekeeping services as neededHelps with individual resident and group social/recreational activities as requested and encourages resident participation in activitiesMonitors for changes in resident needs, preferences, and/or health status and reports/documents any changes according to established proceduresResponds to emergencies in an appropriate manner as per training receivedReports any abuse, suspected abuse, or alleged abuse to the appropriate supervisor and/or agenciesPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications & Physical Requirements:Must be at least 18 years oldMust meet in-service training requirementsMust have a desire to work with the seniors in an environment that upholds their privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individualityMust be able to organize and use time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervisionMust be able to work well with others and function effectively as part of a teamMust be well-groomed and willing to follow dress requirementsMust have a cheerful, enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn new knowledge/skillsMust be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time walking/standingMust be able to read, write, and understand EnglishMust have a general understanding of the needs of seniorsEducation & Experience:High school diploma or GED preferredExperience with seniors preferredExperience performing care-giving tasks preferredThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
