Mount St. Francis Center in Dubuque, IA is seeking a compassionate Caregiver (CNA / Resident Assistant) to provide hands-on care to Sisters, assist nursing staff, respond to call lights, and support daily living activities.

The role requires CNA certification or Nurse Aide experience, completion of food handling training, ability to work with dignity and respect, and a courteous presence with residents and staff.

Qualifications

  • CNA certification or Nurse Aide experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Completion of food service and food handling training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff in providing care.
  • Commitment to serving the Sisters with dignity, patience, and respect.
  • A helpful, courteous, and professional presence with residents, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, hands-on care to the Sisters, supporting their physical comfort, dignity, and participation in community life.
  • Assist the nurse on shift in responding to Sisters’ health-related needs and emergencies.
  • Respond promptly to call lights in Clare and Francis buildings.
  • Support Sisters with personal care including bathing, grooming, dressing, repositioning, and mobility.
  • Assist with meal service by delivering food and beverages, helping Sisters who require assistance with eating, and maintaining kitchenette cleanliness.
  • Change bed linens and clean beds according to the established cleaning schedule.
  • Assist with walking, exercise, and safe transportation of Sisters throughout the campus.
  • Support Sisters’ participation in activity programs.
  • Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, and weight as directed by the nurse.
  • Assist with safe physical transfers following established lifting guidelines.
  • Pass beverages and nourishment between meals.
  • Assist Sisters in preparing for liturgy, retreat opportunities, and other chapel activities.
  • Provide companionship and meaningful interaction with Sisters between assigned duties.
  • Maintain clean, neat, and safe neighborhood areas and Sister rooms.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness according to daily use and scheduled cleaning procedures.
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies in accordance with Mount St. Francis Center standards and state regulations.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with fire, tornado, and disaster procedures.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
