Job summary

Hale Makua Health Services in Maui is seeking a compassionate Substitute Caregiver (Companion) for our Wailuku facility. This part-time role focuses on personal care, homemaking, and befriending to support Kupuna in a hospitable, resident-centered environment.

You will assist with daily living tasks, monitor residents' well-being, and communicate changes to nursing staff to ensure holistic care. A state-approved CNA is preferred, along with CPR/First Aid and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• State-approved Nurse Aide Training is required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Hawaii CNA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care and companionship to residents.
• Support daily living activities and assist with homemaking tasks.
• Recognize changes in health status and report to the nurse promptly.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Nurse Aide Training Program

CPR and First Aid Certification

Valid driver's license

Certified Nurse Aide Hawaii (CNA) preferred

The Position

We're looking for a caring and compassionate Substitute Caregiver (Companion) to sustain our Kupuna through hospitable, welcoming personal care, homemaking, and befriending. Responsibilities include:

• Providing direct services to the residents of the ARCH, supporting their daily living needs, and supplementing the care of the nurse in a holistic approach to care.
• Recognize, record, and report to the nurse in a timely manner any significant change in the resident's health status, and/or mental or physical well-being.
• Demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to adult and geriatric patient populations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent / Minimum age of 18
• Must complete a state approved Nurse Aide Training Program
• CPR and First Aide Certification
• Valid driver's license
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification with the State of Hawaii, preferred
• 2 Step TB clearance and health review (can be done in-house)
