Job summary

Avamere at Hermiston is seeking a caring Caregiver to assist residents with daily living activities and provide emotional support in a Memory Care/Assisted Living setting. You will work on-call across Day, Evening, and NOC shifts at 980 West Highland Avenue, Hermiston, OR 97838.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, safety, and enhancing residents’ quality of life, with duties spanning ADLs, companionship, housekeeping, and health monitoring.

Qualifications

• Prefer experience in a Memory Care Unit or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
• Genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and meals.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
• Perform housekeeping tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and tidying rooms.
• Monitor health, report concerns to medical staff, and assist with health observations.
• Maintain confidentiality and a safe, comfortable environment for residents and staff.
• Assist with orientation of new residents and staff; perform other duties as assigned.

The caregiver's duties encompass a wide range of tasks, includingassisting with activities of daily living, emotional support, housekeeping, and ensuring the resident's safety and well-being.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):

• Personal Hygiene:Helping with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Mobility Assistance:Supporting residents with walking, transferring, and using mobility aids.
• Meal Preparation:Assisting with setting up meals, cutting up food if needed, and removing trays from rooms.

Emotional Support and Companionship:

• Providing Emotional Support:Offering empathy, listening to residents, and providing encouragement.
• Companionship:Engaging in conversations, activities, and social interactions to combat loneliness and isolation.

Housekeeping:

• Maintaining a clean and safe environment, including laundry, cleaning, and tidying up.

Health Monitoring and Medical Advocacy:

• Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.

Other:

• Answer resident calls for assistance timely.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe work environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Maintain a safe work environment. Report safety concerns in the resident apartments to the supervisor.
• Assists with the orientation of new residents and staff when assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements and Qualifications
