Job summary

Avamere Arete at Desert Sage Retirement in Bend, OR is seeking a compassionate Caregiver to support residents with daily living, safety, and companionship in a warm, respectful setting.

The position covers ADLs, emotional support, housekeeping, health monitoring, and activity engagement. CPR/First Aid certification and Food Handler's Card are preferred; 18+ required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Caregiver in memory care and/or assisted living preferred.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting.
• Emotional support and companionship for residents.
• Housekeeping and maintaining a clean, safe environment for residents.
• Monitor residents' health and report concerns to medical staff; observe vital signs as needed.
• Assist with orientation of new residents and staff; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Caregiver

Status: Full-Time & Part-Time

Schedule: Swing Shift 1:45pm-10:00pm, Various Schedule

Location: Arete at Desert Sage Retirement - 1010 NE Purcell Blvd, Bend, OR 97701

The caregiver's duties encompass a wide range of tasks, including assisting with activities of daily living, emotional support, housekeeping, and ensuring the resident's safety and well-being.

Essential Duties And Job Responsibilities

Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):

• Personal Hygiene: Helping with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Mobility Assistance: Supporting residents with walking, transferring, and using mobility aids.
• Meal Preparation: Assisting with setting up meals, cutting up food if needed, and removing trays from rooms

Emotional Support and Companionship:

• Providing Emotional Support: Offering empathy, listening to residents, and providing encouragement.
• Companionship: Engaging in conversations, activities, and social interactions to combat loneliness and isolation.

Housekeeping:

• Maintaining a clean and safe environment, including laundry, cleaning, and tidying up.

Health Monitoring and Medical Advocacy:

• Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.

Other:

• Answer resident calls for assistance timely
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe work environment for residents, staff, and visitors
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Maintain a safe work environment. Report safety concerns in the resident apartments to the supervisor
• Assists with the orientation of new residents and staff when assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor

Requirements and Qualifications

• Prefer experience as a Caregiver in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older
