Job summary

AllCare HomeCare, LLC. is seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a 27-year-old adult who is autistic and communicates primarily through non-speaking methods.

You will promote safety, independence, dignity, comfort, and participation in daily activities according to the individualized care plan. You will learn and consistently use the client’s preferred communication methods, which may include gestures, facial expressions, visual supports, or communication devices.

Qualifications

• Caregiving duties include assisting with feeding, bathing, toileting, transfers, dressing.

• Document services accurately as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support to promote the client's health, safety, and well-being.
• Assist with activities of daily living as authorized and identified in the client's care plan.
• Provide assistance with personal care, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and other personal needs when required.
• Assist with meal preparation and support the client during meals as appropriate.
• Encourage hydration and nutrition according to the client's established routine and care instructions.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized living environment.
• Support the client with daily routines and scheduled activities.
• Assist with transportation or community activities when authorized.
• Accompany the client to appointments, recreational activities, shopping, or community outings when included in the care plan.
• Encourage independence by allowing the client to complete tasks independently whenever possible.
• Provide appropriate prompting and assistance rather than completing tasks unnecessarily for the client.
• Monitor the client's general well-being and report concerns to the appropriate supervisor or responsible party.
• Follow all individualized care instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and respect the client's privacy and dignity.
• Document services and activities accurately as required.

Position Summary

The caregiver should understand that being non-speaking does not mean the client is unable to communicate. The caregiver should learn and consistently use the client's preferred communication methods, which may include gestures, facial expressions, visual supports, communication devices, or other established methods.
