Job summary

Serene Gardens of Rochester Hills is seeking a compassionate caregiver to support residents with daily living activities, mobility, and personal care in a communal setting.

You will assist with meals, bathing, mobility, safety checks, and light housekeeping, while noting changes in condition and reporting to supervisors. A valid driver’s license and flexibility for shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Experience providing resident care in a group setting.
• Ability to assist with activities of daily living and mobility safely.
• Awareness of health and safety standards and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Care for residents in a communal setting with compassion and dignity.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, meals, and mobility.
• Escort residents to meals, activities, appointments, and social events.
• Provide safety checks and light housekeeping for resident homes.
• Assist with showers, wound care, oral care, and feeding as directed.
• Support dining room operations including serving and cleanup.
• Assist with laundry and respond to residents’ needs.
• Report changes in condition to Floor Supervisor/Wellness Director.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the complete care of residents.
• Responsible for changing resident’s soiled briefs.
• Escort residents to and from meals, activities, appointments, etc.
• Assist with showers and bathing.
• Provide appropriate safety checks.
• Provide light housekeeping of resident homes.
• Prove and assist with oral care.
• Assist with wound care as directed.
• Assist residents with feedings and tube feedings.
• Set up residents’ meals.
• Encourage hydration of residents as needed.
• Encourage socialization of residents and host activities.
• Assist residents as needed and as directed by management and floor supervisor.
• Will assist in the dining room during mealtimes and will assist with set up/clean up, taking meal/beverage orders, serving, bussing tables, etc.
• Responsible for getting residents ready and to the lobby for scheduled internal and external appointments and activities.
• Will assist with washing, drying, folding and returning laundry to the correct resident/location.
• Will be trained on and aware of what constitutes a change in condition and report any suspected change to Floor Supervisor/Wellness Director.
• Comply with Residents’ Rights policy and Community and Employee Policies and Procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Enjoy working in a communal setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job-related duties
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every single day
• Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
• Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
• Prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year preferred)
• Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
• Supportive and compassionate
• High School Diploma or equivalent/Experience as a Caregiver, CNA or HHA, or completion of a CNA Program
• Take pride in providing high quality care
• Hoyer Lift Experience (specific to client)
