Job summary

Right at Home Far North Texas is seeking caregivers to provide in-home support across Sherman and surrounding areas. Earn $16.00/hour during a 90-day introductory period with a raise after the 90-day review.

Shifts include day, evening, overnight, and weekends, with both full-time and part-time options and flexible scheduling to fit your life. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance for eligible full-time staff, PTO after one year, holiday pay, shift bonuses, referral

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States.
  • High school graduate or GED preferred.
  • Able to lift/move 50 lbs and assist with transfers; standing/walking for long periods.
  • English reading, writing, speaking, and understanding as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license with auto insurance; own insured vehicle preferred.
  • Mobile phone with text/data for clocking in and contact.
  • Pass background check and Texas Nurse Aide Registry and Employee Misconduct Registry.
  • Pass a drug screen; drug-free workplace with random testing.
  • Complete competency exam and field skills observation in first 90 days.
  • 6 months to 1-year caregiving experience preferred or Texas PAS training; we train otherwise.
  • CPR certification preferred but not required at hire; reimbursement available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living and personal care tasks.
  • Help with transferring, positioning, and mobility support.
  • Bathing, grooming, oral and skin care, and hygiene tasks.
  • Toileting and incontinence care assistance.
  • Light housekeeping: vacuuming, dusting, dishes, laundry, and cleaning.
  • Meal preparation according to diet and preferences; assist with eating when needed.
  • accompany client to errands or medical appointments using your vehicle.
  • Provide medication reminders for client medications.
  • Support prescribed range of motion exercises and dementia care.
  • Offer companionship through reading, music, puzzles; document care in electronic records.

Sherman is our home office and has been serving this area the longest. We cover Sherman, Denison, Pottsboro, Whitesboro, Bells, Tom Bean, Whitewright, Collinsville, Tioga, Bonham, Honey Grove, Leonard, Trenton, and the surrounding Grayson and Fannin County communities.

Responsibilities and Duties of Caregivers:

In this role, you will have the chance to perform personal care activities that assist the client with activities of daily living, which include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting with transferring/moving client from place to place throughout their home, along with positioning and support with walking

  • Bathing/Showering/Dressing/Shaving, plus grooming, oral care, and skin care

  • Assisting with toileting and incontinence care

  • Performing housekeeping activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning the bathroom

  • Preparing meals and snacks according to instructions and the client's diet and preferences, and helping with eating when needed

  • Accompanying client on errands or medical appointments, and shopping for groceries, using your own insured vehicle

  • Medication reminders for medications the client takes on their own

  • Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises

  • Dementia care

  • Companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc.

  • Documenting your care in our electronic record and clocking in and out from your phone

  • Noticing and reporting changes in a client's condition or home to the office right away

Qualifications and Skills of Caregivers:
  • 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the United States

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred

  • Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs without assistance and assist with client transfers; comfortable with prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job

  • Possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance, with coverage in your name or as a named driver on the policy

  • A working mobile phone with text and data — this is how you clock in and how we reach you

  • Pass a background check and clear the Texas Nurse Aide Registry and Employee Misconduct Registry

  • Pass a drug screen. Right at Home is a drug-free workplace, and direct care staff are also subject to random, for-cause, and post-accident testing after hire

  • Pass our competency exam and a field skills observation during your first 90 days

  • 6 months to 1-year experience preferred — or completion of a state-approved Texas Personal Assistance Services training and competency program. If you have the right heart and no experience, tell us. We train.

  • Current CPR certification preferred but not required at hire — and we reimburse the class
